Fall Fashions

Marie Claire arrived this week with the new fall fashions. I love this Chanel dress - a bit hard to see, but the trim is wonderful. (Also like the chair and cushion) And of course, the camel coat that I have been longing for two years is back. Love the little clutch and the denim shirt.

And just one more for summer - chiffony look would be so easy to make if I could find the right fabric.

Bread- Vege Sandwiches

Ok. Chapter 2 of the Bread story. Today I sauteed thick slices of eggplant, pepper and onion, split squares of bread and toasted the inside of the bread in the same pan I cooked the veges in. Slathered the bread with home made garlicky Hummus for delicious sandwiches. Even HB, who is not a vege enthusiast, gobbled his up. We ate them so quickly, in fact, that I forgot to take a picture.

Garlic Cheese Flatbread

Ok here it is. The positive side is that it was very quick to make up and it wasn't tough or chewy. I have to say that I probably would have sprinkled some seasonings on top to give it a bit more flavor and brushed it with something (oil? water?) to make the crust crispier.

Hot Hot Hot

It is hot hot hot early this year. No rain in three weeks and the grass makes crunching sounds as I walk over the lawn. Midsummer flowers blooming early in my garden. Catch them before they go dormant in the dry heat.
But tomatoes are one of the best parts of the hot weather. Served with fragrant basil, both of which love the torrid dry summer.

And cool refreshing lemon blueberry tart for dinner tonight.
