MOB

When I went to pay the florist for the wedding flowers today, I looked at the invoice and found that I had a three letter honorific following my name - MOB. After a moment of blankness I realized that I am the Mother of the Bride, AKA MOB. I guess that makes my husband FOB, and her brother BOB. Fortunately she doesn't have a sister (SOB). It is not so bad when you consider the Groom's father is FOG, his mother MOG and his sister SOG. Best not to mention this to them.

Then the florist asked me the names of the bridesmaids ( I guess she is going to label the bouquets or something) and in some confusion I had to admit that three of them are named Kate, Katie and Katie. Thank goodness one of them has the sense to be named Steph or I am sure she would thought that I was totally wifty . What else would you expect from the MOB?

Naomi's Dress and Black Raspberries

This is what I have been doing every evening for three days. I just laid them out to see how many I still need and it looks like I will be making them again tonight ( and maybe tomorrow). I still haven't figured out how I want to attach them because the fabric is very light and slippery and I don't want it to pucker up. I like they way they look though....
Picked a pint of black raspberries last night!

Rubber Fish .....and Shells

In my original posting I forgot these two pages. The shell pillows are wonderful, and you can't really see the t-shirt, but it has fish printed on it too.
Her work area looks so serene and tidy that I know its not real.

Love the blue fish. I ordered a rubber bass, blue gill and scallop shell so I can make them for wall in the hall opposite the laundry area.

The Delicious Garden

The view from my deck - looking out over the Barngarden and my lucious black raspberries. They have been loving the cool wet days while the red raspberries look just pathetic.
Lots of little basil plants - I chopped off a lot of the bigger ones for the salad last night. They are so delicious with the ......

Early Girl Tomatoes - still green - lurking toward the bottom of this plant
Bell Pepper - you can see a little one if you look closely. The Thai and Jalepeno have just started blooming - they like it hot hot hot
Japanese Eggplant - the two little ones should be ready for dinner in about a week....

Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme.........

Lovely garden yummies

Bicycles

Beautiful despite the outrageous price and the chunky box - a basket would be much more appropriate.

Pie Cherries

I was going to write about my garden today but Jane Finnen turned up with two buckets of pie cherries. Jane is in her mid 70's and had spent the afternoon up on a ladder picking them in addition to three buckets that she kept for herself and her husband Bill. She confided to me that she gave up climbing the trees a couple of years ago. I spent the evening pitting 18 pounds of cherries and making a batch of cherry preserves. I can hear the lids on the jars clicking as they cool off and I am ready for bed.

Knobs and Things

Now that I am happily jobless and doing the things I love, I am going to start my blog again. First entry is a clipping from the New York Times on Alessandra Baldereschl's white laquered cabinets decorated with knobs. Tomorrow, more about resurrecting my weed tangled garden from months of neglect.
